Kuwait City: Suicide rates in the country are alarming. Government studies show that there is a significant increase in the number of suicides in the country. Between 2014 and 2018, 300 people, both citizens and residents, committed suicide. From January 2019 to November 2021, 302 suicides were reported, according to the police station. In other words, there have been a total of 602 suicides in the country in eight years. Statistics show that the majority of those who commit suicide are hanged.

Statistics show that men are more likely to commit suicide than women. Most of the suicides were committed by domestic workers and those doing small jobs. A total of 297 people between the ages of 19 and 35 have committed suicide. That is 60.6 per cent of the total are from this age group. Males constitute 81.1% of the suicides. In addition, Indians make up 60.2 per cent of the world's suicides. The death toll was 179 Indians, 22 natives, 8 Egyptians, 3 Iranians and 2 Sudanese.

The suicide index in Kuwait declined between 2014 and 2018, with a slight decrease in Kuwait's suicide index from 3.2 to 2.3 per 100,000 inhabitants, but the problem of suicide among economically disadvantaged workers and domestic workers still persists.
