2,200 HOMES ARE BEING BUILT FOR 11,000 KUWAITIS

Kuwait City: Dr. Rana Al-Faris, Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology, announced the handover of the South Qairawan area to the Public Authority for Housing Welfare on Tuesday, which includes nearly 2,200 housing units and benefits 11,000 men and women. Al-Faris said in a press statement that the Cabinet, with His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-direct Sabah's support, confirmed the government's involvement in the housing issue. "We look forward to enhancing cooperation between the Kuwait Municipality and the Municipal Council in the coming term to direct efforts toward distributing more lands and having more housing projects that serve inhabitants and help to reduce the waiting period," she said. 


Minister Al-Faris reaffirmed the Council of Ministers' commitment to resolving the housing crisis. She also appreciated the National Assembly's and Parliamentary Housing Committee's efforts in resolving the housing issue, as well as their collaboration with the President and members of the Municipal Council, as well as the Director General of Kuwait Municipality. Minister of State for Housing Affairs and Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Mubarak Al-Aro, for one, believes that the Cabinet's approval of the South Qairawan's allocation and handover to the Public Authority for Housing Welfare reflects all parties' desire to address the housing issue as soon as possible. Al-Aro stated that this is the first step in a positive collaboration between the Municipality and the Housing Welfare Department to fix this issue. Al-Aro noted that this is the first step in a constructive partnership between the municipality and the Housing Welfare Department to tackle this issue in a way that benefits the inhabitants.
