Kuwait City: The worry of locals and expatriates about potential government measures in response to the escalating number of coronavirus cases has once again harmed the country's tourism and travel industry. Fear of any changes that may arise as a result of the coronavirus outbreak and its variants has resulted in a 70 percent fall in travel demand. However, specialists in the tourism and travel industry noted that the current worry of citizens and expatriates about going is not just due to measures taken in Kuwait, but also due to fear of any measures imposed in the countries of destination for passengers at this period each year.

A number of tourism and travel specialists told the daily in separate statements that the current season is seeing a low demand for travel among nationals and expatriates who have decided not to take risks in travelling because to the high number of corona cases. This is in addition to the recent resolution of the Council of Ministers to take preventive steps, which is reflected in persons' prudence when travelling to avoid any emergency situation that can stop their flight.

In this regard, Naji Khader, Sales Director at Al-KharafiTravels Office, disclosed that travel demand has plummeted by up to 70% compared to December of last year. Many people are concerned that the Council of Ministers would take harsher actions, such as stopping commercial flights to and from Kuwait International Airport. According to him, the majority of travel demand is currently in the conventional framework, with India and Egypt remaining among the most chosen destinations among expatriates, and Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia remaining among the most popular locations among nationals.
