COMPANIES END SERVICE TO EXPATRIATES OVER 60 IN KUWAIT

Kuwait City: The final decision on the renewal of work permits of expatriates who have not graduated from the university after the age of 60 is delayed, leading to further crises for those in this category. It is estimated that there are about 54,000 expatriates in the country who fall into this category. The companies are in the process of deciding to terminate their services. Companies have been asked to either resign or terminate their residency or transfer.‌

The decision to renew work permits for those over 60 will be based on the needs of the companies. As a result, expatriates in this category face another problem. That means finding a new sponsor.

Minister of Justice Councilor Jamal al-Jalawi is due to issue an order renewing the work permits of expatriates who have not graduated from university after the age of 60. It is up to the minister to make the final decision on whether to rescind the decision or to introduce a compulsory health insurance fee of up to 500 dinars for renewal.

Sources say Minister Jamal al-Jalawi has a full view on the issue. Sources said the minister would take appropriate action to protect the rights of expatriates without harming the economy.
