Kuwait City: Talks will be held soon with the Union of Insurance Companies to discuss the issue of renewing the work permits of expatriates who have not graduated from university after the age of 60. The Manpower Authority has decided to renew work permits for non-university graduates over the age of 60 by charging a fee of 250 dinars in addition to health insurance. The Manpower Authority will meet with the union of insurance companies in two days to discuss the issue.

Approval is given to companies listed on the Kuwait Stock Exchange. According to health sources, expatriates have to take out a policy of 500 dinars, which covers up to 10,000 dinars per year. Insurance for those above 60 years of age will be limited to the private hospital sector.

The insurance will be provided by eight companies listed on the Kuwait Stock Exchange. The specific conditions also apply to policyholders. In severe cases, treatment may not be available at a particular hospital. Instead, the company offering the insurance policy will transfer it to other healthcare providers offering the service within Kuwait, sources said.
