CRACKDOWN ON ILLEGAL MEDICAL CLINICS IN KUWAIT

  • 02/02/2022

Kuwait City: In response to reports published on January 9, 2022 regarding clinics run by imposters, the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) raided a clinic on Monday that lacked a licence to operate. The authority sent 16 workers to the Residency Investigation Department for working in the medical field despite the fact that they are not specialised in the discipline and do not have a licence to practise. According to sources, the Cabinet's joint inspection team would step up campaigns targeting unlicensed clinics in order to preserve the public's health.

In addition, Mubarak Al-Jafour, Deputy Director General for the Protection Sector and Chairman of the Joint Committee of the Council of Ministers, reported that the Health Ministry had recorded a number of infractions connected to the operation of unlicensed clinics. He verified that the erring employees had been submitted to the Residency Affairs Investigations Department, which will take the appropriate legal action against them. He advised clinic operators to completely comply with the laws, meet health requirements, and obtain licences to practise medicine and its affiliated professions.

Meanwhile, the Council of Ministers debated the Public Services Committee's proposal on the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources' (PAAAFR) report on the building of recreational facilities in the agricultural districts of Wafra and Abdally. The committee's recommendations include how to use specific locations in the two agricultural regions for the completion of projects and initiatives in line with the relevant texts and procedures, as well as a timetable for the short, medium, and long term. Previously, the council directed the authority to exhaust all options for overcoming impediments to the installation of the proposed recreational facilities and to develop a timetable for completing these projects.
