RISE OF EXPATRIATE EMPLOYMENT IN THE RESTAURANT AND CAFE SECTORS IN KUWAIT

Kuwait City: The private sector has witnessed a surge in national and foreign employment indicators over the past four years, including the covid epidemic. This is according to data released by the Central Bureau of Statistics on Labor Market Information Systems. There has been a significant decline in many key sectors, especially manufacturing, agriculture, fisheries, retail, motor vehicle and motorcycle repairs, and water supply.


In addition, there was a decline in areas including sanitation and waste management. But the employment rate in the accommodation and food service sector has increased significantly. The registered employment rate in the accommodation and food service sector, including restaurants, cafes and hotels, increased from 93,776 workers to 831,5,79 workers between 2018 and 2021. Statistics show that there has been an incredible increase of 737,803 workers in this sector.
