REHIRING OF FIRED EMPLOYEES WITH THE SAME JOB AND INCOME

Kuwait City: A proposal has been submitted to re-hire oil sector personnel who were terminated with the same job grade and income as before their termination, if not higher. According to sources, this measure is intended to ensure equity and eliminate preferential treatment in Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) and its subsidiaries. 


According to sources, this will be accomplished by adding a paragraph to Oil Sector Labor Law number 28 of 1969. According to sources, the proposal requires that no more than five years have passed since the worker was terminated, unless he obtained a job that provided him with experience relevant to the new job; and that he did not receive a poor or low performance rating in the previous two years of his previous employment in the oil sector.
