A BILL HAS BEEN PROPOSED BY MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT TO CONTROL SOCIAL MEDIA ADVERTISEMENTS

Kuwait City: MPs Muhannad Al-Sayer, Abdul-Mudhaf, Dr. Badr Al-Mulla, Dr. Hassan Gohar, and Muhalhal Al-Mudhaf proposed that anybody who advertises on social networking sites, whether through his personal account or elsewhere, acquire a licence from the ministry first. This is also true of adverts that are shared on social media platforms. The account holder is also liable for the content of his account, according to the suggestion.

The goal of the law is to protect both parties' rights and to provide a healthy and adequate business environment for conducting advertising operations on social networking sites.

The law lays out a number of requirements for obtaining a licence to engage in advertising on social networking sites. It is also illegal to post on social media any promotional material that offends national unity, incites racial, sectarian, or factional violence, or contains an indecent deed.
