Kuwait City: The Ministry of Social Affairs, representing charitable societies, has convened its first meeting to introduce the responsibilities assigned to members of the Supervisory Team regarding procedures and regulations for the collection of donations. Salim al-Rashidi, assistant undersecretary for social development, said six teams had been deployed to monitor donations during the month of Ramadan. This is to ensure that the funds raised are available to the poorest and most needy.

In addition, it will monitor whether any wrongdoing is being addressed when raising funds. Rashidi said the monitoring teams were deployed as part of the ministry's keen interest in getting donors' money back to those who deserve it. Kuwait is a small country but it is big in providing aid. That is why the fundraising is being shifted within the legal framework, ”he said.
