CHILD CRIME ON THE RISE IN KUWAIT

Kuwait City: The number of juvenile suicide cases rose to 398 last year. This is clear from the field study of the Juvenile Prosecution. Sixteen juveniles were convicted, including murder, suicide and felony criminal mischief. About 75% of them are between the ages of 15 and 18, and 25% are between the ages of seven and 18; Of these, 31.2 per cent are girls and 68.7 per cent are boys. According to statistics, 56.25 per cent of the accused are Kuwaitis. 


Eighty-one percent of all homicides and suicides occur in private homes. In addition, 12.5 percent of the weapons used in these crimes were blank weapons. A total of 226 cases were reported in connection with the incidents. Of those, up to 400 juveniles are defendants. 90% are boys and 10% are girls. The study found that poor relationships are one of the main causes of increased criminal behavior in children.
