Kuwait City: The announcement of three infiltration operations into Kuwaiti territorial waters in less than a week revealed a serious flaw in the Coast Guard insurance system, which coincided with the Audit Bureau's revelation of suspected financial waste of 11 million dinars in the work of a construction contract, supply, delivery, and guarantee of interceptor boats in accordance with contractual terms. These contracted boats, according to an official source, have been sitting idle for years, and instead of being at sea at work, they have remained 'anchored on land' due to inaction and neglect, as well as officials' failure to examine them technically and check their operational efficiency in accordance with the contractual terms.

According to the source, these boats could have been used to protect Kuwaiti territorial waters, but senior Coast Guard officials have dismissed the issue, failing to test, examine, or check the boats, and ignoring the specifications certificate, and the identity of 29 marine pieces has not been specified, whether they are for rescue or interception purposes. According to the audit bureau report, "severe violations in the provision of boats and equipment for marine security," referring to grievances in the construction, supply, delivery, and guarantee of interceptor boats according to contractual conditions, which they replied to.

The Interior Ministry has already constituted a commission to look into these flaws and observations. At a time when regional and worldwide events are intensifying and security dangers are rising, the country's coast guard system is suffering from neglect, leniency, insufficient equipment, and a lack of capacity building that would make it highly prepared to handle difficulties. After the Audit Bureau raised concerns in its most recent oversight reports about the serious infractions that afflicted the coast guard system, fresh information has surfaced that reveals a pattern of appalling carelessness in dealing with the insurance and protection mechanisms of our territorial waters.
