STRICT ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN AGAINST THOSE ENCOURAGING CHILD LABOR

Kuwait City: The Kuwait Human Rights Society recently held a seminar, concluding that stringent measures should be imposed against individuals who encourage child labour, claiming that some parents profit from their children's earnings when they should be in school.

During the discussion, which was titled 'Kuwaiti Charity Organizations and their Extended Support for Childhood,' the speakers unequivocally condemned the exploitation of young children and the deprivation of their constitutionally and legally given rights. Dr. Siham Al-Fraih, Vice-President of the National Bureau of Human Rights and President of the Kuwait Society for Child Protection, emphasised the importance of addressing the phenomenon of child labour and putting an end to the phenomenon of street vendors, which endangers the child's life and exposes his personality to various forms of harm and violations, as well as offend Kuwaiti society.

Al-Fraih stated that various parties support the 'Towards a Safe Childhood' campaign by supplying facts, information, and figures on the conditions of these children, whose parents drive them to work to gain quick money at the expense of people's sympathy for them. Al-Fraih advocated for a stronger partnership between state agencies and civil society institutions to address this phenomena in order to protect children's lives, conduct, and personalities.
