LOCAL EGG PRODUCTION COMPANIES ON THE VERGE OF CLOSURE IN KUWAIT

Kuwait City: Due to the reduction in egg prices despite high feed prices and the state's restriction on egg exports, a number of poultry and egg production enterprises have requested assistance in order to avert losses and possible closures.


Kuwait produces approximately two million eggs per day, according to them. There is a 30% oversupply of eggs. The enterprises so charge KD 8 for a carton of 360 eggs, while the official price set by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry is KD 12.6.
