Kuwait City: Eng. Yousef Al-Fawzan, Director General of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), said that Kuwait International Airport is currently running at 60% of its operational capacity in terms of planes and daily flights. However, the rate will approach 100 percent next summer, when the conditions for the closures set by the COVID-19 outbreak will be lifted.

Eng. Al-Fawzan explained that the DGCA has completed its preparations for the holidays and summer season by preparing emergency plans and activating full readiness for the travel season in an exclusive press statement issued on the sidelines of the Ghabga event organised by the Union of Travel and Tourism Offices on Sunday evening at the Four Seasons Hotel.

Currently, the airport sees roughly 300 planes each day between departures and arrivals, but this number will rise to 500 per day throughout the summer.

DGCA took advantage of the COVID-19 pandemic gap to focus on project and infrastructure development.

The new tower and third runway are anticipated to be finished by the middle of 2023.

"There are development initiatives in conformity with international norms and laws," Eng. Al-Fawzan stated of the radar project. The T2 terminal, which handles 25 million people each year, is without a doubt a quantum leap.
