Kuwait City: In collaboration with the Public Authority for Manpower, the Civil Service Commission is implementing a plan to develop a mechanism to attract citizens to work in the private sector and improve job security as a key era for those wishing to be appointed to work in companies and various sectors rather than relying on government jobs.

Based on the Council of Ministers' suggestion, the concerned government agencies are attempting to increase the percentage of Kuwaitis working in the private sector, as the number of national workers in the sector stands at 72,200 citizens out of 1.434 million workers. The government has recently devised scenarios to encourage national employment in the private sector, beginning with increased support, whether for university graduates or other certificate holders, so that the remuneration in this sector is close to or equal to that of a government employee.

According to a senior government source, what is more important than enhancing worker support, which the government is now reviewing, is trying to create job security, as this will be accomplished by determining the terms of Kuwaiti contracts in private sector enterprises. According to the source, the purpose of the initiatives that will be disclosed soon is to encourage residents to work in the private sector by giving financial help and ensuring the necessary security. According to the source, the plan is still being studied and may contain other stimulating elements.
