TRADER'S GREED, PANDEMIC, AND CONFLICT ARE THE CAUSES OF PRICE INCREASES; LOW-INCOME PEOPLE ARE THE HARDEST HIT

Kuwait City: The outrageous rise in commodity costs, particularly food prices, must add to the woes of people around the world. Kuwait, like other nations, has just recently begun to emerge from the Covid-19 pandemic's grip and is catching its breath, only to be punched below the belt again, this time in the shape of a slow rise in pricing that has affected all markets. Despite anticipation of a global shortage of commodities sweeping the globe this summer, none of the commercial operations have been spared from the consequences, with low-income individuals being the most vulnerable to sudden increases in the prices of meals, clothing, and even household items.

The abrupt price hike is being blamed on the pandemic,  labor shortage, and the present political turmoil between Russia and Ukraine, according to store owners. In relation to the consequences of the Russian-Ukrainian war and its ramifications on Kuwait's import system, the newspaper claims that avarice is to blame for the spike in prices, the extent to which the market was influenced by the war, and the nature of commodities imported from the two nations.
