PANEL EXAMINES PLAN TO MODIFY WORK VISA ISSUE

Kuwait City: The Supreme Consultative Committee for Labor Affairs met for the first time in 2022-2023 after being reformed by the Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Integrity Promotion in 2022. The meeting was attended by representatives of the PAM committee, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Kuwait Municipality, the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the General Federation of Kuwait Workers.


Sultan Al-Shaalani, interim Director-General of the Public Authority for Manpower, presided over the meeting. The committee discussed many issues concerning the Kuwaiti labour market, as well as proposals submitted by the Public Authority for Manpower's Employment Affairs Sector to amend some provisions of the list of rules and procedures for granting work permits in accordance with Resolution No. 156 of 2022. 

The committee also examined some of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry's findings regarding procedures for building a balance between supply and demand in the Kuwaiti labour market, as well as the decisions required to create this balance and govern worker recruitment.
