Kuwait City: The Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority is in the process of setting up an international telecommunications access infrastructure to connect one of the world's longest submarine cables. The submarine cable, operated by a consortium of companies, will pass through the Gulf countries to South Africa. It will then link with International Communications.

Sources said that Kuwait is currently connected by two marine cables.  One of them is inactive due to inefficiency. Sources said the installation of a new submarine cable will boost global communications to and from the Internet. The local companies will be able to provide high quality internet services to the public.
