$20 BILLION TOTAL PROJECTS PLANNED IN KUWAIT

Kuwait City: MEED magazine said there are a total of $6.9 billion of projects under construction in Kuwait slated to run on fossil fuels. The $20 billion planned projects include renewable energy projects worth more than $6 billion, according to MEED Projects data, which tracks regional project activity.


In another context, the magazine stated that the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy has extended until July 26 the deadline for companies to submit their bids for the fourth phase of a power plant project in the Sabiya area, after the previous deadline expired in the middle of last June 21.

The extension came in order to give the contractors more time to prepare their bids for a contract to design and build the 900 megawatt plant, and said that the intention is to award the project contract before the end of this year.

Al-Ghanim International General Trading and Contracting Company and Power China have become among the potential bidders for the contract for the fourth phase of the Sabiya project. .

The planned project, along with a contract to convert a 250 MW simple-cycle power plant within the Subbiya Power Complex into a combined-cycle gas turbine plant, aims to increase the generation capacity of the Subbiya Power Complex by 1,150 MW.

In 2019, the local contracting company, Alghanim International, completed the works related to the simple cycle plant, and in 2020 completed the works on a combined cycle plant in the Sabiya power complex.

MEED concluded by saying that the State Audit Bureau agreed last year to award a transaction consultancy contract for the North Al-Zour 2 and 3 projects and the Al-Khairan 1 independent water and energy production project to a coalition led by the British company Ernst & Young.
