66 PERCENT OF KUWAITIS DO NOT OWN A HOME

Kuwait City: Activists proposed five popular solutions to the housing crisis. Its critical demand is to free up residential land and pool resources to solve the housing crisis over a five-year period. Other ideas include reorganising rent allowance payments, researching aspects of budgetary expenditure, and levying a generous tax on real estate dealers and landlords to help reduce rents and house prices.

These discussions took place yesterday evening at a symposium on finding solutions to the housing problem in the Al Qurain area. The symposium demanded that the plight of thousands of Kuwaiti families who live in rented housing be addressed. For the fiscal year 2021-2022, 132,000 homeless households received rent assistance. According to activist Hadi Al-Ajmi, 66 percent of citizens are homeless.
