Kuwait City: With the beginning of Muharram (the first month in the Islamic calendar), the Ministry of Interior has finished making preparations to keep up with the Husseiniyas' activities, which will peak on the 10th day, or Ashura, of Muharram. A security team of roughly 2,900 people, including 100 women, has been assigned and sent to guard 106 Husseiniyas.

To protect the security of its congregations, movement around these locations will be restricted. Major General Jamal Al-Sayegh, the acting assistant undersecretary for operations, traffic, and public security affairs, disclosed that the ministry is prepared to keep up with the Ashura commemoration. "Based on the directives and supervision of Lieutenant-General Anwar Al-Barjas, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, the required preparations have been made, and all sectors involved in safeguarding Husseiniyas are prepared," he declared. This is based on an integrated security strategy that was created to safeguard the safety of inhabitants and residents, in collaboration with the owners of the Husseiniya councils and after hearing some observations that the Ministry of Interior took into consideration.

Major General Al-Sayegh emphasised that the ministry's security plan, which is reflected in the distribution of permanent security detachments and foot patrols and the deployment of personnel from traffic and rescue, public security, intelligence, civil defence, and special forces as well as medical emergencies and firefighting forces, as well as male and female volunteers, is in line with international standards. He declared, "The organisers who control the councils inside the walls will be in charge of securing access and exit. The police's job outside will be to protect 106 Husseiniyas.

To protect the Husseiniyas, 2,900 police officers—including 100 women officers—were inspected. About 200 volunteers, both men and women, will also take part in the various responsibilities to closely monitor the security situation, guarantee attendance, and inspect arrivals using the best tools. Each governorate now has a small control room that is connected to the ministry's main operations room in the Sabhan region. Each place is observed by cameras from every angle. Additionally, security barriers have been installed to keep vehicles away from the Husseiniya. To deal with citizens and residents expertly and effectively and to offer them any aid, all police officers are well-equipped, well-prepared, and under clear orders.
