406 PEOPLE COMMITTED SUICIDE IN KUWAIT IN FOUR YEARS

Kuwait City:  A study prepared by the National Office for Human Rights has warned about the spread of suicidal tendencies in the last four years. The study was conducted from 2018 to 2021. According to the data, 406 people committed suicide in the country during this period. 17 of them are children. Statistics also indicate that 52 percent of those who commit suicide are Kuwaitis.


The youngest of these is an eight-year-old Kuwaiti boy who committed suicide on August 3. The study shows that suicide cases among children have increased in 2020. The highest number of covid cases have been reported in the country this year. 2020 is the year when the covid pandemic has had the most impact. It is estimated that the financial, health and mental stress problems along with severe health restrictions have led to an increase in suicides.
