Kuwait City: According to Dr. Khaled Mahdi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development, "We are working on enacting different legislations and laws, as well as putting into practise some international agreements in the interest of the political leadership on the role and importance of empowering women in society. Mahdi mentioned the launch of the women's empowerment platform under the slogan "Kuwaiti leaders for change" while speaking at a symposium on the topic of "Principles of Empowering Women in the Private Sector," which was organised by the Secretariat-General of the council. Mahdi explained that this platform allows decision-makers to choose qualified Kuwaiti women for leadership positions.

Mahdi called on Kuwaiti women with competence and practical experience in either the public or private sectors to follow this platform to update the full job history in their account so that the work team can view it to activate the role of this initiative. He praised the role of the private sector in Kuwait and its interest in employing women, providing them with training and opportunities to hold executive positions, as this is one of the important ways to reach the goals of sustainable development.

With regard to implementing the comprehensive national plan, Kuwait has made a number of significant steps, according to acting resident representative of the United Nations Development Program Khaled Shahwan. He noted that coordination has been made with the Planning Secretariat on substantive technical consultations to work with the United Nations to promote the principles of women's empowerment directed towards the private sector, and includes one of the most significant steps. He mentioned that the Women Empowerment Principles, a national initiative with a global outlook, have so far been signed by 44 businesses and their executives.
