Kuwait City: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry is thinking about bringing charges against a small number of its employees for allegedly abusing their authority to give shareholders in companies improper access, which ultimately changed the ownership structure of these entities.

The sources claimed that a committee led by the ministers of commerce and industry and of social affairs and community development, Fahd Al-Shariaan, had been established to look into claims that some employees had entered inaccurate information for some companies in the registry. The committee reportedly consists of university professors and lawyers from outside the ministry as well as other members from within.

The sources claimed that this conduct, if confirmed, would have contributed to the dissemination of false information that conflicts with reality in the official database of the Commerce Ministry, which is relied upon at the request of the shareholders by all relevant authorities, the Ministry of Justice, banks, and other institutions with access to the website. As a result, one party would have benefited at the expense of the other.
