NUMBER OF PALM TREES DYING IN KUWAIT DUE TO LACK OF WATER IS INCREASING

Kuwait City: The number of palm trees dying due to lack of water in the country is increasing. About 30 palm trees recently dried up on the road that separates the areas between Al Rabia and Al Rehab. Due to lack of water supply, all the trees on the streets are dying. Last July, 700 palm trees along the main roads in most areas dried up.

Sources attributed the problems to a dispute between the agriculture authority and the companies contracted to carry out the maintenance and irrigation works. There are nine such companies. The matter escalated between the two parties in a recent meeting. With this, 7 companies were withdrawn from operations. The explanation is that the agreement of the companies was avoided due to lack of sanctioned amount.
