KUWAIT TO ENSURE REGUAR AVAILABILITY OF MEDICINES

Kuwait City: The Ministry of Health has recently increased its imports of medicines and essential medical supplies due to the shortage the country recently experienced. Accordingly, Fitch Solutions expects Kuwait to speed up its imports of medicines to ensure that they can be obtained on a regular basis. The country's pharmaceutical market is almost entirely dependent on imports.

According to a Fitch report, the most common category of goods Kuwait plans to import is cancer drugs. This is because recent local reports have detailed treatment delays of up to two months, which have forced many patients to seek treatment in neighbouring countries. As part of the ministry's investments in health care following the corona pandemic, the report stated that the Ministry of Health received approvals earlier this month to spend 6.6 million dinars on medications for cancer, diabetes, and respiratory illnesses.
