INCREASE IN WORKFORCE IN LAST THREE MONTHS, EXPAT LABOR TAKES LEAD

Kuwait City: According to the most recent labour market statistics, there were 30,973 more employees in the public and private sectors within a three-month period. According to statistics released by the Central Bureau of Statistics, there were 3,734 more Kuwaitis employed in these two sectors as of the end of June 2022 than there were non-Kuwaitis, who saw a 27,239 increase in the labour force.


As of June 2022, there were 1,915,865 people employed worldwide, including 438,559 Kuwaitis and 1,477,306 non-Kuwaitis. Of these, 457,149 people worked for the government, compared to 1,458,716 in the private sector. In contrast to the 426,348 female workers, there were 1,489,517 males in the labour force. The Ministry of Education has the highest number of workers in the government sector with 133,101; followed by the Ministry of Health with 63,501. 

According to statistics on the industries that generate the most employment in the private sector, the hospitality and food services industry had the highest number of employees with 690,028; it was followed by the construction industry with 222,283. According to statistics on educational backgrounds, the majority of government employees (211,089) possess a university degree, whereas the majority of those working in the private sector have an intermediate education (736,093).
