KFAS ANNOUNCES KUWAIT 2021 PRIZE WINNERS

Kuwait City: The Kuwait 2021 Prize winners were announced by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) on Thursday.


Each year, the Prize is awarded to eminent Arab scientists who have made outstanding contributions and achievements. KFAS Director General Dr. Khaled Al-Fadhel stated in a statement that the Award is worth KD 40,000 (roughly USD 132,000) for each of the four fields. The statement continued, "The 'Condensed Matter Physics' prize was equally awarded to Saudi scientist Dr. Othman Bakr and Egyptian scientist Dr. Omar Abdulsabour, who collaborated at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia, because of their research on the use of perovskite material in solar energy applications and high-energy radiation sensors.

 Awarded for their research and clinical trials on Thalassemia and high cholesterol were the Egyptian scientist Dr. Nabil Sidah and his Lebanese colleague Ali Taher. Dr. Fuad Abdulkhaleq of Lebanon won the award for "Educational Sciences" for his work on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) classroom research that aimed to improve students' skills. Dr. Ramzi Baalbaki, a scholar from Lebanon, won the award for "Linguistics." To support scientific research, innovation, and creativity, the Kuwait Prize was established in 1979 in accordance with KFAS goals.
