Kuwait City : The Ministry of Health has confirmed that Kuwait ranks ninth globally in the rate of breast cancer in women. From 2014 to 2019, 20,483 mammogram examinations were conducted in various health centers and hospitals with the aim of early detection of cancer. From this, 233 cases of breast cancer were found and they were referred to breast oncologists, said the head of radiology department Latifah Al Kandari.

The Breast Cancer Early Detection Program is a national preventive health program. Al Kandari noted that most of the detected cases were in the first and second stages of cancer. Most cases of breast cancer have no symptoms before a mammogram. In 2014, there were only 26 cases of breast cancer. It increased to 60 in 2015. Al Kandari also said that the cases decreased to 46 in 2019.
