WOMEN OWN 57.1 PERCENT OF ALL SMALL AND MEDIUM-SIZED BUSINESSES IN KUWAIT, ACCORDING TO REPORTS

Kuwait City: The first half of this year reported significant changes in the national labor demand for private sector jobs. According to the Labor Market System report, 183 nationals left the corporate sector in the wake of increased hiring and demand in the oil sector. 250 citizens were appointed to oil companies. Most of them were employed in government-owned companies.


63 Kuwaitis shifted their activities to the sector related to small and medium enterprises. This change involves leaving previous jobs, whether in the government sector or in the private sector. 16,885 Kuwaitis are registered under Chapter V which deals with small and medium enterprises. They have their own projects. The report also shows that 57.1 percent of the total owners of small and medium enterprises are women.
