MUNICIPALITY IS PREPARING FOR UPCOMING CAMPING SEASON

Kuwait City: The Kuwait Municipality has begun preparations for the spring camping season, which runs from November 15 to March 15, by holding a meeting with other concerned authorities to review the temporary camping sites and modifications made during this season.

According to a decision made by the Municipal Council last year, the municipality determined the value of securing the camp's site to be 100 dinars refundable and 50 dinars non-refundable fees provided the site is used by the person to whom it is licenced. Meanwhile, the committee to study and update the temporary spring camping sites for the 2022/2023 season, led by the Deputy Director-General for Municipal Affairs of Hawalli and Ahmadi Eng Fahd Al-Shatili, met yesterday in the presence of representatives from all government agencies, to develop a work mechanism to determine the tasks entrusted to each entity.

Eng Al-Shetili stated in a press statement that the meeting reviewed the camping sites, presented organisational plans for the sites, and discussed the proposals of the concerned authorities, the amendments made to these sites, and the terms and conditions for licencing the camps. He also stated that the formation of field teams at the governorate level was discussed in order to survey, prepare, and clean all sites, emphasising the removal of any camp set up outside of designated camping areas.

The Municipality has also issued warnings to shepherds to graze their sheep outside of the designated areas, to avoid high-tension overhead power lines, and to work with the appropriate authorities to protect the environment and wildlife. Al-Shatili revealed that coordination has been made toward the establishment of service sites (central markets to be set up by coops, fire stations, security centres, health centres, and ambulance centres) for the benefit of campers, and he urged citizens and residents to cooperate and follow environmental instructions.
