Utah bans social media to children

USA: In a new move that sparked widespread reactions between supporters and opponents, Utah Governor Spencer Cox approved a comprehensive package of legislation to regulate dealing with social media, including requiring those under the age of 18 to obtain explicit parental consent to use social media platforms, such as Tik Tok, Instagram and Facebook, according to the British Guardian newspaper.

Cox also signed into law a bill banning social media companies from using technologies that could make minors addictive to these platforms.
