Kuwait to Close Private Schools in Residential Areas by 2028

Kuwait’s Minister of State for Municipal Affairs, Abdul Latif Al-Mishari, has approved a Municipal Council decision to shut down all private schools located in residential areas by the end of the 2027/2028 academic year. The minister added that any newly designated school sites must first receive clearance from the General Traffic Department, including a traffic impact study, before being handed over.

Al-Mishari also formally objected to three other council proposals. These included permitting car wash services in specific market areas, allowing businesses to use sidewalks for refreshment stands, and creating a temporary road entrance in Rumaithiya. He requested further review and amendments to these measures.
