Central Bank Permits Banks to Resume Prize Awards with New Governance

The Central Bank of Kuwait has authorized local banks to resume awarding prizes to customers after implementing enhanced governance and auditing controls. The move follows a suspension of such awards in March 2025, during which new oversight procedures were developed and put in place.

Banks have updated their internal systems and adopted a unified framework that includes mandatory external auditing for all prize draws, standardized operational requirements, and strengthened internal controls. The Central Bank stated that banks are now ready to relaunch prize programs in compliance with regulatory approvals from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
