Abu Dhabi’s Al Hosn Festival Begins, Showcasing Emirati Heritage

The annual Al Hosn Festival, celebrating the UAE’s cultural heritage, opens today at the historic Al Hosn complex in Abu Dhabi. Organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism, the 16-day event runs until February 1 and features traditional crafts, exhibitions, and live performances.

Highlights include shadow puppet shows, heritage displays tracing Abu Dhabi’s evolution from an 18th-century fort, falcon and Saluki demonstrations, and an authentic souk with local crafts and spices. A special focus will be on Arabic coffee (‘Gahwa’) culture, offering visitors a hands-on introduction to Emirati traditions and hospitality.
