Dubai Food District to Transform Aweer Market into Global Hub

DP World has announced a major redevelopment of Dubai’s Aweer Fruit and Vegetable Market into the Dubai Food District, a world-class food trade and logistics hub. The project aims to strengthen Dubai’s role in global food security and supply chains.

The 29-million-square-foot district will feature advanced cold storage, logistics networks, and packaging facilities. Upon completion of its first phase in 2027, the market’s capacity will double, providing an enhanced platform for international producers to access Middle Eastern, African, and West Asian markets. The Aweer market, relocated from Deira in 2004, currently supports over 2,500 vendors.
