The President of the Swiss Confederation, Guy Parmelin, arrived in the country on an official visit, accompanied by a high-level delegation from Switzerland.
He was welcomed at the airport by His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmed Al-Abdullah.
Also present to receive the Swiss President were the Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali, the Head of the Crown Prince’s Diwan Sheikh Thamer Al-Jaber, and the Advisor at the Prime Minister’s Diwan and Head of the accompanying delegation Sheikh Dr. Basel Al-Sabah. The welcoming party also included the Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mishaan, who is the spouse of the Swiss President, as well as the Assistant Foreign Minister for European Affairs Ambassador Sadiq Mohammed Marafi.
The official Swiss delegation accompanying President Parmelin includes the Assistant Foreign Minister for the Middle East and North Africa Ambassador Monika Schmutz, Member of the Council of States Andrea Caroni, Member of the National Council Roman Hug, the President’s Diplomatic Advisor Ambassador Simon Bideau, along with several senior officials from the Swiss Confederation.
The visit reflects the strength of bilateral relations and is expected to include discussions on areas of mutual interest and cooperation.
