Drone Attack Near Dubai Airport Halts Flight Operations

Dubai: Flight operations at Dubai International Airport were temporarily suspended after a drone attack triggered a fire near a fuel storage facility close to the airport.

According to the Dubai Media Office, the drone struck a fuel tank located in the airport’s vicinity, causing a fire. Emergency teams from Dubai Civil Defence responded quickly and brought the blaze under control. Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported.

As a precautionary measure, aviation authorities temporarily halted flight operations while security teams assessed the situation. Emirates also announced a temporary suspension of its services from the airport.

Passengers have been advised not to travel to the airport until further notice and to contact their respective airlines for updated flight information. Some flights were diverted to Al Maktoum International Airport.

Traffic movement on Airport Street and the Airport Tunnel was temporarily restricted as authorities secured the area.

Officials said security agencies remain on high alert following the drone incident and urged residents and travellers to rely only on official announcements, particularly during the busy period of Ramadan travel.
