Kuwait Municipality Activates Emergency Plan to Ensure Public Services

Kuwait City: Kuwait Municipality has intensified its emergency response measures to ensure public safety and the uninterrupted delivery of essential services amid current regional challenges.

The move comes under the directives of Minister of Municipal Affairs Abdul Latif Al Mishari and the direct supervision of Director General Manal Al Asfour. Over the past three weeks, operations have been strengthened across various governorates.

Municipality spokesperson Mohammad Al Sundan said field teams and equipment have been strategically deployed to enable rapid response during emergencies. As part of the plan, certain machinery and cleaning staff have been stationed directly in residential areas instead of warehouses to ensure faster intervention when needed.

Authorities have also cancelled temporary permits for spring camps and suspended approvals for event tents and wedding halls until further notice, aiming to reduce public gatherings and enhance safety.

Additional measures include implementing a dedicated schedule for daily road cleaning and accelerating waste management processes by reducing the time taken to transport waste to landfills.

The municipality has also strengthened coordination with other government entities to ensure a unified response during emergencies. Continuous communication with official media channels is being maintained to keep the public informed.

As part of its emergency operations, the municipality has deployed:

  • 72 cleaning centres
  • 12 supervisory officers for cleaning and road monitoring
  • 120 inspectors
  • 1,333 cleaning workers
  • 179 machines and equipment
  • 741 waste containers

Officials reiterated that all necessary steps are being taken to maintain public safety and ensure the continuity of essential services despite ongoing challenges.
