Sharjah Regulates EV Charging Stations with New Decision

Sharjah: The Sharjah Executive Council has issued a new decision to regulate the installation and operation of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across the emirate.

The move aims to organise and expand EV infrastructure while ensuring efficiency, safety, and accessibility. The decision covers key aspects such as connection procedures, service tariffs, and the overall supply of charging equipment.

It also outlines clear legal guidelines, including conditions for setting up charging stations in both public and private areas, as well as safety and quality standards that must be followed.

Additionally, the framework defines violations, administrative penalties, and enforcement mechanisms to ensure compliance with the new regulations.

Authorities said the initiative supports the development of a modern and sustainable transport infrastructure in Sharjah.
