Fires break out at Borouge plant after missile interception in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi authorities are managing several fires that broke out at the Borouge petrochemical facility after debris fell following a successful air defence operation. The incident prompted a temporary halt in plant operations while teams assess the extent of the damage. Officials confirmed that no injuries have been reported so far.

Earlier on Sunday at 6:44 am, the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority stated that the UAE’s air defence systems intercepted an incoming missile threat originating from Iran. The aerial threat was neutralised before reaching its target.

Authorities have urged residents to rely only on official government sources for updates and to avoid spreading unverified information as the situation continues to unfold.
