Trump says Iran blockade to continue until deal, despite Hormuz remaining open

US President Donald Trump has stated that the naval blockade targeting Iran will remain “in full force” until a comprehensive agreement is reached between Washington and Tehran.

In a statement posted on Truth Social, Trump said the Strait of Hormuz remains open for global shipping and commercial passage, but restrictions specifically on Iranian-linked vessels will continue until negotiations are fully concluded.

He also acknowledged support from regional allies, thanking Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Qatar for their cooperation during the ongoing crisis.

The remarks came after Iranian authorities indicated that Hormuz remains accessible to all vessels following a ceasefire related to broader regional tensions. Despite this, the US maintains pressure through its targeted maritime restrictions.

The ongoing conflict, which escalated earlier this year, has disrupted one of the world’s most critical energy routes, with the Strait of Hormuz handling a significant share of global oil and liquefied natural gas shipments. Analysts warn that continued instability could have far-reaching impacts on global energy markets.
