Abu Dhabi Police has reminded motorists to strictly follow safety rules around school buses, warning of heavy penalties for violations. Drivers must come to a complete stop when a school bus displays its “Stop” sign, ensuring children can board or exit safely.
Authorities stressed that vehicles in both directions are required to halt and maintain a minimum distance of five metres from the bus. The rule is designed to protect students while crossing roads during pick-up and drop-off times.
Failure to comply will result in a Dh1,000 fine and 10 traffic black points, officials said. The warning was reinforced through an awareness video demonstrating proper driver behaviour near school buses.
The advisory comes as schools across the United Arab Emirates prepare to resume in-person classes, leading to increased traffic in school zones. Police urged drivers to remain vigilant and prioritise student safety at all times.
