Sharjah to install 100 fast EV chargers under new green mobility partnership

Sharjah is set to expand its electric vehicle infrastructure with the rollout of more than 100 fast EV charging stations under a new partnership between the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority and ION.

ION, a joint venture between Beeah and Crescent Enterprises, will be responsible for developing, operating, and maintaining the charging network across Sharjah city as well as central and eastern regions.

The agreement follows ION’s approval as the first authorised EV charging operator in Sharjah, marking a major step toward strengthening sustainable transport solutions in the emirate. Officials said the initiative aims to support the growing number of electric vehicle users while contributing to efforts to reduce carbon emissions.

The project will be implemented in coordination with the Sharjah Electricity Water and Gas Authority to ensure high standards and timely delivery.

As part of the initiative, ION will also introduce a dedicated mobile application allowing users to locate charging stations, track charging progress in real time, and make seamless payments.

Authorities highlighted that the move aligns with the UAE’s broader sustainability and net-zero goals, while enhancing Sharjah’s position in green mobility infrastructure.
