Kuwait Court Orders Psychiatric Evaluation In Al Mutlaa Wife Murder Case

The Second Circuit of the Court of Appeal in Kuwait has ordered a psychiatric evaluation for a citizen convicted of killing his wife in the Al Mutlaa desert area.

The court, headed by Counselor Nasr Salem Al Haid with Counselors Mutaib Al Aradhi and Saud Al Sanea as members, issued the order while reviewing several criminal cases.

According to court proceedings, the accused had previously been sentenced to death by the Criminal Court for the murder of his wife.

The Appeals Court directed that the man be referred to a specialised psychiatric medical committee to assess his mental condition and determine the state of his cognitive abilities at the time the crime was committed.

Investigators stated that the incident took place in the desert area of Al Mutlaa, where the accused allegedly assaulted his wife repeatedly until she died.

Authorities further alleged that he later drove a vehicle over her body to ensure her death.

The psychiatric evaluation is expected to play a key role in the ongoing legal proceedings and the court’s final review of the case.

Officials have not yet announced the date for the next hearing.
