UAE issues Ebola travel warning for Uganda, DR Congo and South Sudan

The United Arab Emirates has issued a travel advisory urging its citizens to avoid non-essential travel to Uganda, Democratic Republic of the Congo and South Sudan due to ongoing developments related to Ebola virus disease (EVD).

The advisory was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as part of efforts to protect the safety and wellbeing of Emirati citizens travelling or residing abroad.

Authorities advised citizens to closely monitor official health updates and only travel to the affected countries when absolutely necessary.

The ministry said the warning comes as health authorities across parts of East and Central Africa continue monitoring Ebola related developments and implementing measures aimed at containing the spread of the virus.

Emirati citizens currently residing in or visiting the three countries have been urged to exercise maximum caution and strictly follow health and safety instructions issued by local authorities.

Officials also encouraged travellers to remain alert and stay informed about any new developments related to the Ebola outbreak.

The ministry highlighted the importance of registering with the Twajudi platform, which helps UAE authorities maintain contact with citizens abroad and provide support during emergencies.

In addition, the ministry reminded citizens that assistance is available through its dedicated emergency hotline for Emiratis travelling overseas.

The latest advisory reflects the UAE’s continued efforts to keep its citizens informed and prepared during periods of heightened health risks and international disease outbreaks.
