Kuwait Airport Operations Halted After Reported Strike on Terminal 1

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) announced that an emergency plan was activated at Kuwait International Airport following what it described as a drone and missile attack that reportedly targeted Terminal 1.

According to aviation authorities, the incident caused significant damage to several airport facilities and resulted in injuries. Emergency response teams and relevant agencies were immediately deployed to manage the situation and implement approved safety and security procedures.

DGCA spokesperson Abdullah Al-Rajhi said airport authorities had prioritised the safety of passengers, employees and airport infrastructure while responding to the incident.

As part of the emergency measures, flight operations were suspended and aircraft were redirected to alternative airports until further notice. Authorities said services would resume only after the completion of security assessments and technical inspections.

Specialised engineering and technical teams have begun evaluating the extent of the reported damage to airport facilities and operational systems. The assessment will determine the repairs and rehabilitation work required before normal operations can restart.

Officials stressed that passenger and staff safety remains the highest priority and pledged to provide further updates as more information becomes available.

Travellers have been advised to monitor official announcements and contact their airlines for the latest information regarding flight schedules and airport operations.
