Fake Doctor Jailed for Three Years in Kuwait Fraud Case

Kuwait City: A Kuwaiti citizen has been sentenced to three years in prison and fined KD3,000 after being convicted of posing as a doctor and defrauding patients at a public hospital.

According to court records, the man allegedly wore official medical attire and moved around a government medical complex, convincing staff and patients that he was a qualified doctor.

The case came to light after he reportedly persuaded a young woman that he could arrange and expedite cosmetic surgery procedures on her behalf.

Investigators found that the accused collected KD950 from the woman after promising to speed up the necessary medical arrangements and approvals.

Security authorities launched an investigation after suspicious behaviour was detected within the hospital. CCTV footage reportedly showed the suspect moving through different sections of the medical facility while dressed as a doctor.

The footage helped investigators identify and arrest the suspect. Following the investigation and court proceedings, the Criminal Court found him guilty of fraud and impersonation.

In addition to the three-year prison sentence, the court imposed a KD3,000 fine, highlighting the seriousness of offences involving deception within healthcare institutions.
