Kuwait City: The Ministry of Interior has announced the seizure of 323 kilograms of narcotic substances and 635,000 drug pills during the first six months of 2026 as part of an intensified nationwide campaign against drug trafficking, distribution and abuse.
According to the ministry, authorities registered 1,200 drug-related cases and arrested 1,564 individuals during the period. The operations were carried out under the directives of Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, with oversight from senior ministry officials and the General Department of Anti-Narcotics.
In addition to the narcotics, security forces confiscated 9,000 bottles of alcohol and deported 614 expatriates found to have violated the law. Officials also reported 346 drug-use cases, involving 305 men and 41 women, while three drug users died during the reporting period.
Investigations also uncovered links between some suspects and weapons trafficking. Authorities seized 26 firearms, including rifles, pistols, Kalashnikov assault rifles, air rifles and an MP5 automatic weapon, along with 1,423 rounds of ammunition.
The ministry said the latest operations demonstrate its continued commitment to dismantling organised criminal networks involved in drug trafficking and related crimes. Officials reaffirmed that strict action will continue against drug smugglers, dealers and users to safeguard public safety and national security.
